Join us this week in prayer for Burma!
In him [Jesus] was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
-John 1:4-5

Greetings!

We have returned from serving at the Jungle School of Medicine (JSMK) - more on that below!

First, this week there are several opportunities to join with others around the world in prayer and supporting those who are suffering in Burma.

18th Annual Run for Relief
On 12 March we helped to host a local R4R (Eirenee' even got to design the T-shirt!). For thousands of villagers throughout Burma, running is part of everyday life. Forced from their homes, they flee with the fear of being shot by the Burma Army or maimed by landmines. Will you join together with us to show that those who have the freedom to run have not forgotten those who have no choice but to run?

All funds raised will go to help the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in Burma. You can give through the FBR webpage here

You can still participate virtually or even host an event locally. Send us a picture if you do!
Global Day of Prayer for Burma (14 March)

We will be joining with others here in Chiang Mai to pray for Burma. Would you join us from where you are? Here is the 2022 Global Day of Prayer for Burma magazine with guides on what to pray for.

Update on Burma

We were exposed during our time at JSMK in greater depths to the realities of oppression. The village we were working in is a central point for teams returning from serving on the frontlines of the war. Each shared stories, pictures, and videos of the evil they witnessed - fighter jets indiscriminately bombing villages, mortars being sent into homes and churches, and soldiers burning and pillaging everything in their path. The darkness is thick.

The local people in each state are defending themselves against 21st century weapons of war with homemade rifles and even muskets. There are now over 1 million people displaced across Burma's seven different states.

The darkness cannot and will not overcome the Light.

We also heard stories of courage and heroism and ultimately love. One young, local ranger ended up paying the ultimate sacrifice just last week. Her name is Elizabeth (see picture above). She was killed by a mortar while helping people evacuate a church. She was beloved by all the ranger teams for her selfless service in the face of danger the last several months. She followed Jesus Christ and we know she is with Him now.

Please join us in praying for Elizabeth’s family and friends, all the families who are experiencing loss, and all of the displaced people in Burma.

May the love of Jesus Christ triumph in the hearts of the oppressed. May we see a free Burma - starting in the hearts of the people!

Update on Our Trip to JSMK

What a joy it was to partner with others to bring help, hope, and love to the people at the school, clinic, and surrounding village. It always seems that we leave places like this having been ministered to MORE by Jesus and those we are partnering with. God is so good.

We forged new friendships that made saying goodbye hard. We learned much seeing the full scope of the jungle medical school, the clinic, the medical supply process, and the village. Everyone opened their arms and hearts wide to us at every turn. It was extremely humbling. We walked away with hearts full and a greater perspective of how we can love and serve from afar and in preparation for our next visit. We are already excited to return at some point later this year!

God answered our prayer requests and beyond during this trip. We ended up working together on the medical supply system overhaul more than we initially planned. It was awesome to use our different skills to bring organization and develop greater ownership for the ethnic supply staff.

Each Sunday we had a blast leading the kid’s Sunday school together. Ross was unexpectedly blessed with the opportunity to preach one Sunday. Eirenee’ also cultivated a very special relationship with two of the students through teaching English. She was able to share the hope of the Gospel and even recruited them to help lead Sunday school games and crafts. They come from a Buddhist background. We were praying the Bible story would speak to their hearts as much as the kids!
How can we be praying for you?
Thank you, thank you for your continued prayers and support as we continue on this journey! Your gracious giving enabled us to be 47% funded for the month of February!
